From among the forbears of Béla Lajta it is his grandfather Mózes (Móric) Leitersdorfer whose life can be retraced in contemporary documents. He was a tailor in the Terézváros district of Pest in the 1830s and 40s.

His two published studies treat the architecture of Ödön Lechner and the 'Art of the Cemetery".

The most important surviving part of his correspondence are the letters Lajta sent to his former form teacher Frigyes Riedl during his European study tours in the years 1896-1899.

Texts on the architecture of Béla Lajta that have appeared during his lifetime, or shortly after his death.
